A rare aquarium with a deep-sea theme, located on the shores of Suruga Bay, Japan's deepest bay. The aquarium is filled with tanks of creatures living in the deep waters of Suruga Bay. You'll find inhabitants found nowhere else, from the motionless giant isopod to mysterious-looking deep-sea fish that sway gently. The highlight is the display of the coelacanth, called a 'living fossil,' where you can closely observe a precious frozen specimen. With attractions concentrated in a compact space, it's easy to navigate even with small children.
Tips
Located just steps from Numazu Port's restaurant district and a few minutes' walk from the port's paid parking lot. Admission is around 1,800 yen for adults. On weekends and holidays, ticket windows tend to be crowded, so visiting right after opening ensures a smooth entry. Inside, some passageways are narrow, and during busy times, a baby carrier is easier to move around with than a stroller.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. The morning hours right after opening are least crowded and allow for leisurely viewing.
