Flow of the course

About this spot

A dining area stretching before Nagoya Castle's gates, divided into the Yoshinao Zone on the main gate side and the Soharu Zone on the east gate side. The Yoshinao Zone lines historic and renowned shops serving Nagoya specialties such as hitsumabushi, miso nikomi udon, and miso cutlet. Walking through the atmospheric townscape of the castle town and deciding which restaurant to enter is part of the enjoyment. The Soharu Zone features shops with innovative cuisine and sweets, perfect for seeking dessert after your meal. A delightful adult castle-town dining experience that pairs perfectly with a visit to Nagoya Castle.

Tips

Popular shops develop lines after noon, so aiming for an early lunch around 11 AM is the way to go. Prices vary by restaurant, but the famous hitsumabushi is somewhat pricey, while kishimen and miso cutlet are more affordable. For post-meal dessert and souvenir shopping, head to the Soharu Zone. You can enter this area even without a Nagoya Castle admission ticket.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Entering around 11 AM helps you avoid long lines.
