View Trains from the Tokio no Hiroba and Enjoy Lunch at the Restaurant Floor

About this spot

A complex facility where JR Osaka Station itself has become a massive station building, with the Northgate Building and Southgate Building connected by a large dome-roofed elevated plaza. The symbolic "Tokio no Hiroba" (Plaza of Time and Space) is located on the 5th floor, where you can view trains sliding into the platform from above beneath a large gold and silver clock—a spot that will captivate you even if you're not a train enthusiast. The restaurant floor features a wide range of options from Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine to sweets, with lunch choices that will leave you spoiled for options. Scattered throughout the upper floors are hidden-gem outdoor spaces like the Kaze no Hiroba (Plaza of Wind) and Tensoku no Nouen (Sky Farm), and it's also fun to wander and drop by after your meal. This is truly a standard date spot in Umeda.

Tips

Access the Tokio no Hiroba via the 5th floor of the Northgate Building, either by the grand staircase or elevator from the Atrium Plaza. For the restaurant floor, arriving for an early lunch before 11 AM makes it easier to avoid lines at popular restaurants. Since it's under a dome roof, the Tokio no Hiroba is a safe choice even on rainy days.

Best time to visit
