A natural park along the stream leading to Minoh Waterfall, starting just beyond Hankyu Minoh Station. This historic Osaka Prefecture park, established in 1871, is part of the Meiji-no-Mori Minoh Quasi-National Park and serves as the western starting point of the Tokaido Nature Trail. The main Takimichi trail spans approximately 2.8 km one way with nearly the entire route paved and gently uphill, making it easy to walk in sneakers without serious mountaineering gear. The path, enveloped by the sound of the stream and dappled sunlight, feels like another world just 30 minutes from Umeda. Scattered along the way are an insect museum, ancient temples, and souvenir shops—before you know it, you've reached the waterfall while chatting with friends. Beyond the famous autumn foliage season, the fresh greenery of spring is equally refreshing, making this a course worth visiting multiple times throughout the year.

Tips

From Hankyu Umeda Station, transfer at Ishibashi-Handai-mae (direct trains also available), arriving at Minoh Station in about 30 minutes—the trailhead is just beyond. During peak foliage season, parking lots around the station are certain to be full, so taking the train is your best bet. Starting early in the morning around 9 AM means fewer crowds and more refreshing sunlight through the trees. There are several restrooms along the trail, and it's best to purchase drinks at the station beforehand.
