A park centered around Mandai Pond, the symbol of the quiet residential area of Tezukayama. The walking path circling the pond (approximately 700 meters around) is bustling with locals enjoying their morning walks and exercise routines, a true retreat woven into daily life. The pond's name is said to derive from a legend in which Prince Shotoku (聖徳太子) subdued the pond's spirit with the Mandala Sutra, lending it a touch of historical charm. Waterfowl like ducks float on the water's surface, captivating even small grandchildren as they watch the birds glide by. During spring, cherry blossoms frame the pond, making it a popular hanami viewing spot. Benches and open areas are scattered throughout, allowing grandparents to enjoy the scenery while children search for birds and fish—a perfect morning stroll where all three generations can proceed at their own pace.
Tips
About a 5-minute walk from Hankai Tram Kamicho Line's Tezukayama 3-chome (帝塚山三丁目) or Tezukayama 4-chome (帝塚山四丁目) station. The walking path around the pond is flat and easy to navigate with a baby stroller, manageable even for elderly visitors. There are no shops in the park, so bring drinks in advance. Restrooms and benches are available. From here, you can continue south directly toward Sumiyoshi via the Hankai Tram.
Best time to visit
