Savor Fresh Seafood Lunch While Overlooking Ine Bay from the Observation Deck

About this spot

A rest stop station (michi-no-eki) set on an elevated plateau overlooking Ine Bay, where the observation deck offers a panoramic view of the boathouses surrounding the bay, the sea, and fishing boats coming and going. The restaurant inside is popular for seafood bowls and set meals made with locally caught fish and shellfish, and enjoying fresh seafood lunch while taking in the stunning views is one of the pleasures of this course. The shop also carries souvenirs from Tango—seafood, confectionery, local sake, and more. The bird's-eye view of the boathouses and sea woven together like a miniature garden is unique to this vantage point—different from looking up at the boathouses from within the village. Relaxing on the observation deck benches after lunch is the perfect way to take a midday break on your couple's journey.

Tips

A 15-minute walk uphill from the village, or by bus to "Michi-no-Eki Funaya no Sato Park" stop—right there with free parking. The restaurant gets busy around noon, and popular menu items may sell out, so arriving early is safe. The observation deck is free and open to the public, but the sea breeze lowers the perceived temperature, so a light jacket is comfortable.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Entering before noon or after 1 p.m. means the restaurant is less crowded.
