This is perfect for reflecting on Nijo Castle and Seimei Shrine visited earlier that morning, and instead of making your afternoon journey to the Manga Museum a mere transit, this verdant shortcut transforms it into a meaningful part of your experience.
Tips
Easily accessible from Maruyama or Imadegawa stations on the subway; entry and exit throughout the grounds are free. The paths are lined with gravel, so sturdy walking shoes are essential. Summer sun offers little shade in some sections, so bring a hat and water. If time permits, the Kyoto Imperial Palace, open year-round (closed Mondays, with baggage inspection, free admission), is worth visiting.
