About this spot

A museum themed on ports, ships, and the sea, featuring an impressive large roof inspired by sailing ship sails and ocean waves. The interior displays ship models and historical documents tracing Kobe Harbor's history, allowing visitors to enjoyably learn about the port from its opening era to today's modern container facilities. The attached Kawasaki World is a corporate museum of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, where you can board an actual 0 Series Shinkansen (bullet train), straddle large motorcycles, and enter the interior of a helicopter—with interactive exhibits in abundance. Children who love vehicles will lose track of time playing here. Located right next to the Port Tower, it's a reliable destination on rainy days and ideally positioned for a harbor walk stop.

Tips

Located right next to Kobe Port Tower, about 1 minute walk away. Using a combination ticket with the Port Tower is economical. The interactive exhibits for the Shinkansen and motorcycles at Kawasaki World can involve wait times on weekends. The interior is flat and can be navigated with a stroller, making it a dependable rainy-day destination.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour. Late morning has fewer group tours and interactive exhibits can be enjoyed with shorter waits.
