A symbolic landmark of Kinosaki's external bath circuit, named after the physician Kagawa Shutoku's praise of the spring in the Edo period as 'the finest hot spring in the realm.' Its grand exterior featuring a curved gable (karahafu) reminiscent of a kabuki theater serves as the hot spring town's most recognizable landmark—the building alone is worth admiring. The interior houses the venue's signature cave-style bath carved into bedrock, perfect for slowly soothing your body warmed from your leisurely walk. After bathing, step out onto the Danitani River (大谿川) with its rows of willows right in front. Among the scenery quintessentially Kinosaki—stone bridges, willows, and hot spring mist—enjoy hot spring sweets and fresh seafood snacks while soaking in the evening lights coming on across the town. Tips

About 10 minutes on foot from Kinosaki Onsen Station; it's in the heart of the hot spring town and easy to find. Bring a towel or purchase one at the reception desk. Evening can get crowded around dinner time at the inns, so 2–4 PM is relatively uncrowded. Closed Wednesdays, so please confirm in advance. If visiting multiple external baths, a day pass offers good value.
