Take in views of the Naruto Strait from the observation plaza, enjoy an early lunch with Awaji Island Burger
About this spot
Located at the base of the Onaruto Bridge on the Awaji Island side, at Naruto Cape, known as "the rest stop closest to the Naruto Strait." From the observation plaza, you can view the imposing Onaruto Bridge overhead and the tidal flow of the Naruto Strait up close—a dramatic location. For lunch, we recommend the "Awaji Island Onion Beef Burger," which won first place at the national regional burger competition. This famous burger, layered with sweet, thick Awaji Island onion cutlets and Awaji beef, is substantial enough to share with children. The shop is stocked with a full lineup of souvenirs including seasonings and sweets made with Awaji Island onions. An early lunch while gazing at the bridge and strait will heighten your anticipation for the afternoon cruise.
Tips
About 5 minutes by car from Awaji Island South IC; free parking available. The burger shop gets crowded at lunch, so an early lunch around 11 AM is the way to go. Wear comfortable shoes for the outdoor promenade to the observation plaza. Bring a light layer if the sea wind is strong.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour. An early lunch around 11 AM before the lunch rush is recommended.
