Located within a facility housed in the former Kimura Sake Brewery (旧木村酒造場) that retains its Meiji-era charm, near JR Takeda Station, this is a guidance facility for Takeda Castle Ruins. Despite free admission, the content is substantial: the large-screen video theater presents the spectacular views of Takeda Castle and sea of clouds through all four seasons in stunning detail. Through diorama models and exhibits, you can easily learn about the history from castle construction to abandonment and how the sea of clouds forms. Visiting after climbing the castle allows you to cross-reference: 'So that's what those stone walls I just walked on looked like!' and the experience becomes doubly moving. It also doubles as a tourist information center, making it a reliable base for gathering information about the whitewashed castle town, the Temple Street (寺町通り) promenade, and lunch spot recommendations.

Tips

A 5-minute walk from JR Takeda Station and immediately accessible from the Takeda Machinaka Parking Lot, in the center of the castle town. Admission is free and it doubles as a tourist information center, so pick up maps of castle town dining spots and brochures here. The interior is flat with rest areas, making it perfect for cooling down after climbing the castle. The nearby Temple Street is a flat promenade, ideal for a post-meal walk.
