About this spot

A roadside station serving as the gateway to Tajima, adjoined to the Sando Parking Area (山東パーキングエリア) on the Kitakinkiぐ Toyooka Expressway (北近畿豊岡自動車道). The main attraction is Tajima beef (但馬牛), a premium brand cattle. The restaurant serves Tajima beef rice bowls, steaks, and other delicacies, while the direct sales corner sells fresh meat. The shop is lined with local specialties from Asago including Iwazu Welsh onions (岩津ねぎ), as well as confectioneries and regional sake from throughout Tajima—shopping for souvenirs is a delight. As a bonus, the adjacent 'Ancient Asago Museum' (古代あさご館) offers free viewing of artifacts from the Chasu-ri Mound (茶すり山古墳), one of the Kinkis's largest circular mounds. After spending the day hiking scenic mountain trails and exploring mine shafts, stopping here to reflect on the journey together is the perfect way to wrap up.

Tips

This is a highway oasis-style facility directly connected to Sando PA on the Kitakinkis Toyooka Expressway, with access also available from general roads. It's about 30 minutes by car from Ikuno Silver Mine. If buying Tajima beef meat or local vegetables, bringing a cooler bag is helpful. Restaurant and takeout shops may close early, so if Tajima beef cuisine is your goal, allow plenty of time and arrive early before closing.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes. Stop by in the evening on your way back; for Tajima beef cuisine, arrive in good time before the shop closes.
