Tsutsukawa Hot Spring - Io-no-Yu

Flow of the course

About this spot

A public bath at Tsutsukawa Hot Spring with a direct view of Lake Nitsuno Dam's surface, located right next to the Tsutsukawa Hot Spring bus stop, making it very convenient to visit. Tsutsukawa Hot Spring is known nationally as the first hot spring area to make a "fresh spring water declaration," and Io-no-Yu receives pure hot spring water directly. Outside the building is a freely accessible foot bath where you can soak while feeling the breeze crossing the lake—the rigidity from navigating mountain roads gradually eases away. There's also a unique drinking spring where you can taste the hot spring water. Leisurely gazing at the misty hot spring village and the quiet lake while soaking refreshes both body and spirit, providing the energy needed for your final journey to the Kanashina Settlement.

Tips

From Route 168, head into the Tsutsukawa Hot Spring village. It's right next to the Tsutsukawa Hot Spring bus stop and within walking distance from nearby parking areas. It's convenient to bring a towel for the foot bath in your car. If you use the indoor bath, there's a bathing fee, so bring small change. In mountain areas, cashless payment is often unavailable, so having cash is reassuring.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour required. A foot bath in the afternoon while gazing at the lake is a wonderful way to ease the fatigue of driving.
