A cultural facility utilizing the main building of the former Biwa Lake Hotel, built in 1934, this historic structure was called the "State Guest House of Lake Biwa" and welcomed distinguished domestic and international visitors. The classic exterior, blending traditional Japanese roofing with Western architectural design, is impressive, and the grand lobby and staircase are perfect for family photos. The English Garden spreading toward the lakeshore invites leisurely walks with children, with roses blooming beautifully in spring and autumn, and seasonal flowers adorning the paths. The view of Lake Biwa across the garden is a fitting conclusion to your lakeside journey and exceptionally beautiful. Tips
About a 10-minute walk from Kōnin Shrine Station on the Keihan Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line, with paid parking available. Admission to the building is free, but there's a separate entrance fee for the English Garden. Roses are at their peak in mid-May through June and around October. The garden paths are well-maintained and easy to navigate with a stroller; you can rest at the café while enjoying lake views.

Allow approximately 1.5 hours. The soft afternoon light beautifully illuminates the Western building, gardens, and lake views.
