A Famous Garden of Hokkaido Garden Street - Family Photos Among Flower Arches and Pathways

About this spot

One of Hokkaido's representative gardens, which began when a rice farmer planted flowers as a welcome to visitors. Designed by gardener Ueno Sayuki, this garden is counted among the famous gardens of "Hokkaido Garden Street" and is known as a "Hokkaido Garden" that expresses English techniques using perennials that thrive in Hokkaido's climate. Attractions continue throughout: symmetrical flower borders (mirror borders), views from the hilltop "Shooting Gallery Mountain," and shaded pathways—every angle looks like a scene from a picture book. The grounds have gentle slopes, perfect for small children's walks, and a renovated barn houses "NAYA Cafe," where you can enjoy snacks like soft serve ice cream.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Ramen Village with free parking. The gardens are best viewed spring through fall, but opening periods vary—check official information before visiting. Garden paths include gravel and grass sections, so a stroller with sturdy tires is recommended. Limited shaded areas mean summer requires hats and plenty of water. The cafe's soft serve ice cream is a popular treat after your walk.

Best time to visit

Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes. The soft afternoon light makes flowers look their best.
