Search for views and Tsugaru souvenirs at the triangular landmark
About this spot
The triangular silhouette, representing Aomori Prefecture's initial "A," stands out prominently as a landmark of Aomori Bay Area. The building serves as a hub for promoting Aomori's tourism and local products. The first-floor souvenir plaza is lined with regional souvenirs ranging from traditional crafts like Tsugaru lacquerware and Kogin embroidery to apple confections, local sake, and seafood. Ascending to the upper-floor observation deck, you'll find a grand panorama overlooking Mutsu Bay and Aomori city, and on clear days, the mountain ranges of Hakkoda and even the Shimokita and Tsugaru peninsulas. The building also features a video theater introducing Aomori's culture and seasons, perfect for grasping the overall picture of Aomori for first-time visitors. Looking down from above at the bay area you've explored, seeing the entire course you've traveled creates a sense of accomplishment.
Tips
Right next to Aoi Umi Park. The observation deck and video theater are fee-based; combined tickets with the Hakkodate Maru and other facilities are available, so check at the window. Souvenirs are abundant, so plan extra time for shopping to avoid rushing. The first floor has light food and ice cream shops, convenient for a quick break.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes required. Afternoon light beautifully illuminates Mutsu Bay, making it ideal timing to visit the observation deck.
