Complimentary Foot Bath at the Station: Soak Together as a Family to Wrap Up Your Trip
About this spot
Located just outside the Blue Forest Railway's Asamushi Onsen Station, this foot bath is free for anyone to use. Simply sit on the roofed bench and soak your feet in the hot spring water—the fatigue from a full day of walking gradually melts away. You can experience the hot spring atmosphere simply by removing your shoes, so even small children who haven't bathed in a traditional bath yet can safely enjoy it. The location is perfect for a quick stop during your train wait, and you'll find locals and tourists alike soaking their feet side by side in this charmingly homey hot spring town moment. At the end of your trip, you can casually experience the waters of historic Asamushi Onsen, with a tradition dating back over a thousand years, together as a family.
Tips
Located right in front of Asamushi Onsen Station, use is free. Be sure to bring a towel to dry your feet, as none are provided. Children in clothes with easily-rolled pant legs will have an easier time. Check the time of your return train in advance so you can fully relax during your wait.
Best time to visit
Approximately 30–45 minutes. Early evening as you prepare to depart is the perfect time to soothe the day's fatigue while waiting for your train.
