A vast forest park spreading across the hillside behind the hot spring town. With well-maintained walking trails, a leisurely walk through the green of beech and pine trees offers a pleasant forest stroll where you can catch glimpses of Mutsu Bay's blue between the trees. Ponds and open squares are dotted throughout the park, and taking a break while listening to birdsong is a delightful moment. Being able to hop from the seaside to the forest in a single day, each with its own distinct scenery, is a luxury unique to Asamushi. Choosing a gentle route that's easy even for children's feet turns the walk into a detour of picking up acorns and fallen leaves. It's a spot where parents and children can fully feel the terrain unique to Asamushi, where sea and mountains sit closely together.

Tips

Within walking distance uphill from Asamushi-Onsen Station. The park is large, so it's reassuring to check a shorter loop route on the map at the entrance before you start walking. Comfortable shoes and insect repellent make for a pleasant walk. Pick up drinks in the hot spring town before heading over.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. The afternoon hours with sunlight filtering through the leaves feel wonderful, and families with children can comfortably manage with a shortened route of about an hour instead
