A short rest with the specialty "Longevity Tea" on grassland overlooking the entire Hakkoda mountain range

About this spot

An open highland grassland spreading along National Route 103 heading from Aomori City toward Hakkoda. The Hakkoda mountain range stretches magnificently beyond the green turf, making this the perfect vantage point to burn the complete panorama of the mountains into your memory at the start of your drive. The specialty is "Longevity Tea" served at the tea house, which has been cherished as a unique auspicious tea with the saying: "Drink one cup and live 3 years longer, drink two and live 6 years longer, drink three and enjoy long life until death." The gift shop carries local specialty products, and the location is convenient for combining restroom breaks. Strolling across the grassland while gazing at the Hakkoda mountain range directly ahead builds anticipation for the spectacular views to come.

Tips

About 30 minutes by car from Aomori City center on National Route 103 toward Hakkoda. Free parking and restrooms are available, making it an ideal first rest stop on your drive. The highland mornings are cooler than in the city, so bringing a light jacket is reassuring. The tea house also offers light meals such as soba, depending on the season.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 45 minutes. The early morning with crisp air offers clear views of the Hakkoda mountain range, which feels wonderful.
