Enter the World of the Skies with the Restored Miss Beadle Aircraft and Interactive Exhibits – A Large Science Museum Safe Even on Rainy Days

About this spot

A large prefectural museum adjacent to Misawa Airport where you can experience Japan's aviation history and scientific wonders in their entirety. The main attraction in the aviation zone is the restored Miss Beadle aircraft, which took off from Sashiro Beach in Misawa and accomplished the world's first non-stop transpacific flight. There is also a full-scale restoration of the Koken aircraft, which set a world long-distance flight record, and the Kyokutoh Souhatsu Koutou Renshuuki (a vintage Imperial Japanese Army twin-engine advanced trainer aircraft) salvaged from Lake Towada. These aircraft all have their own stories. The science zone is filled with interactive exhibits where you can learn while playing with your body, and a simulator where you can experience the feeling of piloting is also popular. For children who love airplanes, this is the top destination in Misawa tourism where they can lose track of time.

Tips

About 15 minutes by car from Misawa Station, right next to Misawa Airport. The free parking lot is spacious and car access is convenient. The interactive exhibits and simulators are best visited right after opening, before the crowds arrive.

Best time to visit
