A Lineup of Real Fighter Jets – An Outdoor Exhibition Plaza Where You Can View Aircraft Up Close Under the Blue Sky
About this spot
An outdoor exhibition plaza extending from the Aviation Science Museum. Historic aircraft that have flown through the skies, including the F-16 fighter jet associated with the U.S. Air Force and the T-2 trainer aircraft in Blue Impulse livery, line up under the blue sky, and admission is free. The greatest appeal is being able to approach right beneath the wings without glass barriers and feel the sheer size of the aircraft with your whole body – you can constantly hear the excited cheers of children gazing up at the planes. It's also a luxurious way to spend time unique to Misawa, an aviation town, by sitting on the grass and listening to the sounds of aircraft taking off and landing at Misawa Airport passing overhead. When enjoyed together with a visit to the museum, the excitement for vehicle enthusiasts will be even greater.
Tips
Located right next to the Aviation Science Museum and can be reached on foot. Admission is free. As the outdoor area has little protection from sun or wind, a hat and jacket are recommended. During winter, the area closes due to snow, so check the opening season in advance.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour. Late morning to early afternoon is when the aircraft shine in good light and viewing and photos are most enjoyable.
