A production hub for Kirin Brewery in the Tohoku region, located on the shores of Sendai Port. The popular factory tour guides visitors through the manufacturing process of "Ichiban Shibori" beer. Guests can actually touch malt and hops, and observe enormous brewing kettles and high-speed canning lines up close—an experience as exciting as a school field trip for children. At the end of the tour, adults can enjoy a tasting of freshly made Ichiban Shibori, while children and drivers are offered soft drinks, so the whole family can experience a toast-like moment together. The power and scale of a working brewery offers a different kind of excitement from the aquarium. It's a great place to stop for a rest after shopping—a unique experience venue truly characteristic of the Sendai Port area.
Tips
About 5 minutes by car from Mitsui Outlet Park Sendai Port. Factory tours are by advance reservation only, so book your preferred date and time on the official website. Tours take approximately 1 hour, so arrive by the scheduled start time. If driving, the person operating the vehicle cannot participate in the tasting and will be offered soft drinks instead. Access is also possible from Taga Station (多賀城駅) on the JR Senseki Line.
