Experience a starlit sky at the grand planetarium and end your day with romance

About this spot

An astronomy museum representing the Tohoku region, perched on Nishikiigaoka overlooking the route back to Sendai from Sakunamori Road. The planetarium, featuring a 25-meter-diameter dome, projects approximately 10 million stars and offers a live explanation of that evening's night sky—truly breathtaking when surrounded by a canopy of starlight. The exhibition halls showcase the 1.3-meter 'Hitomi Telescope' and other displays that let visitors experience and learn about the cosmos, providing ample content for adults to explore thoroughly. Weekend nights occasionally feature stargazing sessions, and if timing permits, you can enjoy actual stargazing as well. As the perfect finale to a day spent savoring food and fragrance, sink into the planetarium's seats together and gaze up at the stars, deepening the resonance of your journey.

Tips

About 30 minutes by car from Sakunamori direction; free parking available. Planetarium screenings are on set schedules, so check times and purchase tickets upon arrival. Combo tickets for exhibitions and planetarium are a good value. The building is well air-conditioned, so a light layer is comfortable. Check ahead for closure days (such as Wednesdays) before visiting.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Aim for an evening planetarium showing to perfectly cap off your day.
