A drive-in located in the Shirahama district on the eastern shore of Lake Tazawa, serving as the gateway for lake tourism. The second-floor restaurant has premium seating with expansive lake views through large windows, where you can savor Akita specialties such as Inaniwa udon noodles and comparative chicken and egg donburi while taking in the panoramic vista of the lake you're about to circle. The first-floor shop displays Akita souvenirs, local sake, and Tatsuko statue merchandise. The white sandy beach directly in front, known as Shirahama Lake Beach, is a gentle-sloping swimming area where you can descend to the water's edge after your meal to appreciate the gradient of clear water and vibrant lake blue up close. Starting your lakeside drive from here with a full stomach and local information will make your entire loop far more enjoyable.
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from JR Tazawa Lake Station; free parking available. Around lunchtime, tour buses can create crowds, so arriving early ensures a smooth experience. A sightseeing boat dock is nearby, and if time permits, you can combine it with views from the lake. For bulky souvenirs, consider purchasing them on your return trip.
