The pond and spring garden viewed from the main hall's tatami room is an elegant composition incorporating the verdant mountain behind as borrowed scenery. Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Haguro Zuishinmon Gate. Admission is arranged at the main hall, and matcha tea (with confectionery) is available for an additional fee. Since you'll be seated on tatami, wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off. Note that the temple closes early in the evening, so visit with plenty of time to spare.
Best time to visit
Plan for approximately 1 hour. Late afternoon, when the western sun illuminates the garden, offers a calm and contemplative viewing experience.
