A folklore museum located just a short walk from Shinjo Station, preserving the history and traditions of Shinjo. The highlight is an actual display of festival floats (yatai) from the Shinjo Festival, registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage under "Mountain, Halberd, and Float Processions." These floats are lavishly decorated with dolls and artificial flowers depicting famous kabuki scenes and historical tales—a breathtaking sight that captures the festival's vibrant energy year-round. The museum also displays folk artifacts related to snowy-region living, such as sleds, as well as art and crafts associated with Shinjo, allowing visitors to understand the three-dimensional culture of the Mogami region that has thrived alongside snow. Learning about this region's history before the boat cruise will deepen your appreciation of the Mogami River landscape visible from the car and the boat.

Located about a 10-minute walk from JR Shinjo Station, the terminal of the Yamagata Shinkansen, making it convenient to combine with rail travel. Free parking is available.
