The Mogami Gorge, where green mountains press close from both banks, is a scenic spot known for its seasonal beauty and succession of waterfalls large and small. The boatman's resonant rendition of the "Mogami River Boat Song" echoing through the gorge is the cruise's signature moment. Attractions continuously unfold—the Sennindo Hall, said to be connected to Minamoto no Yoshitsune, the Shiraito Falls flowing from the opposite bank, and more. Tips

You board at the Tozawa-han Funabansho in Koguchi and disembark at Kusanagi Port downstream. If driving, check the return shuttle bus schedule before boarding to get back to your vehicle. The breeze off the water is refreshing even in summer, so bring a light jacket. Seasonal variations and water levels affect operations, so advance reservations are recommended.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The period from fresh greenery through autumn foliage is especially beautiful, and the afternoon sun is ideal for photography.
