Cap Off Your Day at the Shrine Affectionately Known as "Konpira-sama"
About this spot
Enshrined in Iwaki City Joban Sekifune-cho and affectionately called "Konpira-sama" by locals, this shrine is revered for maritime safety and business prosperity and is one of Iwaki's representative shrines, with many pilgrims visiting from afar during its festival. As you climb the stone steps of the approach one by one, a dignified main shrine comes into view surrounded by trees, enveloped in a solemn atmosphere beneath the soft light of dusk. For small children, the stone steps are a little adventure, and their proud "I did it!" smile becomes a cherished souvenir of this trip. After rushing through fossils, eternal summer resorts, and hot spring mist-filled towns, quietly conclude your day with the whole family in prayer.
Tips
About 5 minutes by car from Yumoto Station, or about 20 minutes on foot. Wear comfortable shoes as there are stone steps on the approach. At dusk, it becomes darker, so hold your child's hand and ascend slowly.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 40 minutes. Prayer in the soft light of dusk is refreshing and ideal for concluding your day.
