Stroke the Kajika Frog Statue to Wish for Good Fortune—A Romantic Dusk Finale

About this spot

Koitani Bridge spans the Misasa River and is affectionately known as the "Love Bond Kajika Bridge," one of the symbols of Misasa Hot Spring. A bronze statue of a kajika frog, celebrated for its beautiful song, stands on the bridge; stroking it is said to bring good fortune in love. The Misasa River is the habitat of these frogs, and during quiet moments, their clear calls may drift from the riverbanks. The path from the bridge approach toward the main hot spring street is a classic stroll in the hot spring town, and wandering past souvenir shops adds to the charm. As dusk arrives and the river and town bathe in crimson hues, gazing together at the scene makes for a fitting conclusion to your day.

Tips

The kajika frog statue is at the middle of the bridge's railing. Evening light is soft and ideal for photographs. The bridge approaches lead into the hot spring town's walking paths, so linger until streetlights come on to fully savor the town's evening atmosphere.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. At dusk, when both the river and town glow crimson, it is the most romantic time of day.
