Historically, this region was known for high-quality iron production, and iron was called 'kane,' which is said to be the origin of the place name. The shrine stands at the end of a stone-stepped approach enveloped by cedar groves. Though small, it has a dignified presence. At the entrance to the approach, a shrine office distributes lucky amulets such as yellow handkerchiefs meant to hold money for good fortune—popular items among those visiting to pray for lottery luck. It is a fortune-blessed mountain spot that attracts visitors seeking prosperity.
Tips
The approach has stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The shrine office (souvenir shop) is located at the entrance to the approach, making it easy to visit after your prayer. As the surrounding area is mountainous with few restaurants or vending machines, bring drinks in advance. About 40 minutes by car from the Ueda Shoji Photography Museum.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 45 minutes. Late afternoon is quieter, allowing for more serene worship.
