Located along a stretch of Mizuki Shigeru Road, this Japanese confectionery shop has the unique concept of researching the food of yokai. Its signature product is, without question, the Medama Oyaji yokai sweet. Made one by one by hand by artisans from a long-established Japanese confectionery shop, this neriki eyeball sweet on a skewer has a striking, remarkably realistic appearance, yet inside is the refined sweetness of smooth red bean paste, making it a truly excellent treat. It's a Sakaiminato-only snack experience that makes you want to take a photo before eating. Take a break in the afternoon after all that walking, and biting into Medama Oyaji together as a family is sure to bring out the biggest laughs of the day. Its popularity, selling out as soon as stock runs low, makes perfect sense once you try it.

Tips

Since the Medama Oyaji yokai sweet is handmade, quantities are limited and it can sell out by evening. It's also worth stopping by before visiting the museum to ask if they can hold one for you. It comes on a skewer, making it easy to eat while walking, but since it can crumble easily, help small children with how to hold it.
