This is the ruins of a gun battery built by the Tottori Domain at the end of the Edo period to defend against foreign ships, designated as a national historic site. The earthen walls covered in green grass well preserve their historical appearance, and climbing to the top offers refreshing breezes from the Sea of Japan and open views. The surrounding area is developed as Odaiba Park with play equipment and open spaces, making it perfect for children to run around and rest. By tucking a moment of touching Hokuei's history into your all-Conan day, you'll feel the depth of the town. The distance from Beika Shopping Street is also conveniently walkable.
Tips
The top of the earthen walls is unpaved, so watch your step after rain. There's little shade, so on hot days bring a hat and water. There's a parking lot and restroom on the Odaiba Park side, making it easy to stop by car.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 1 hour. The afternoon is when the green grass looks its best, perfect timing for a digestive stroll after lunch.
