A sustainable-themed cultural complex located at the gateway to Hiruzen Plateau. Its symbol is the CLT pavilion "Wind's Leaves" (風の葉) designed by architect Kengo Kuma. The structure of Okayama prefecture hinoki (cypress) CLT panels, assembled to resemble leaves dancing in the wind, became a topic of conversation when it was relocated from Harumi, Tokyo to Hiruzen. The grounds feature a museum showcasing art works, a shop displaying crafts made from local materials, and a cycling center serving as a hub for plateau cycling. Simply spending leisurely time on the lawn is delightful. Surrounded by the scent of wood in the clear morning air, enjoying art and architecture—this is the perfect start to your day.
Tips
Parking is free. The indoor museum is useful for adjusting your itinerary on rainy days. The shop carries crafts and goods typical of Hiruzen, so it's a good idea to buy small, lightweight souvenirs here first to avoid carrying bulky items later.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. The area is less crowded early in the morning right after opening, and the wooden pavilion looks beautiful illuminated by the morning sun.
