Experience lunch and rich soft-serve ice cream at this rare Jersey cattle ranch
About this spot
A iconic tourist ranch spread across the foothills of Kami-Hiruzen, symbolizing Hiruzen dairy farming. Hiruzen Plateau is one of Japan's leading Jersey cattle regions, and in the pasture you can closely observe adorable brown Jersey cattle contentedly grazing. The on-site restaurant serves dishes and menus featuring Jersey beef made with abundant Jersey milk, and the highlight after your meal is undoubtedly the rich premium soft-serve ice cream. The depth of flavor unique to Jersey milk with its high butterfat content is a taste you can only experience here. Some days offer horseback riding experiences (hand-led rides), and the pastoral landscape with Kami-Hiruzen as backdrop feels like a true highland resort. Free admission with all-day enjoyment—this is the main attraction of the course.
Tips
The restaurant gets busy around noon, so an early lunch around 11 a.m. is recommended. The grounds are extensive with little shade, so a hat is advisable. Cattle may not be visible on certain days due to weather conditions. The parking lot is free and spacious.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours and 30 minutes. Have lunch around 11 a.m. before the crowds, then enjoy a leisurely stroll through the pasture afterward.
