About this spot
An observation rest stop located at approximately 870 meters elevation along the Hiruzen-Daisen Skyline, a scenic route connecting Hiruzen Plateau and Mount Daisen. Looking north, you see Mount Daisen (伯耆富士), called Hoki-Fuji, and the sharp profile of Mount Karasu; turning south, the three Hiruzen peaks—Kami-Hiruzen, Naka-Hiruzen, and Shimo-Hiruzen—and the highland's patchwork of green. This panoramic 360-degree view is one of the highlights of the drive. On clear early mornings, sea of clouds often spreads below, making it popular among photography enthusiasts. It's only a short walk from the parking lot to the observation area, so even families with small children can easily enjoy the spectacular views. A moment watching the wind sweep across the plateau, reflecting on the journey traveled, is truly special.
Tips
The parking lot and restrooms are available, making it easy to stop. The area is exposed and often windy, so a light layer is recommended for comfort. The Skyline has many curves, so take frequent breaks if children are prone to car sickness.
Best time to visit
About 40 minutes. In the afternoon, as light tilts westward, the mountainside of Mount Daisen becomes three-dimensional and striking.
