Souvenir Shopping at a Roadside Station Brimming with Countryside Bounty

About this spot

A roadside station located along National Route 182 in Tetsusei Town, Niimi City, serving as the gateway to the Koi-ga-kubo Wetland, also called the "Oku no Tone of the West." The shop displays fresh vegetables from local farmers, Niimi-brand grapes, Sennya beef processed goods, homemade side dishes and sweets—a wealth of mountain village delights. A dining area serves local soba noodles, perfect for a light snack on your return journey. As you gradually settle from the excitement of cave exploration, take time to select souvenirs for family and friends. If time and energy allow, consider a brief stroll through the adjacent Koi-ga-kubo Wetland entrance to search for alpine wildflowers.

Tips

The roadside station has a spacious, easy-to-use parking lot. Popular vegetables and side dishes often sell out by evening. The shop closes early, so allow ample time for a return-journey stop.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. Since closing time is early, plan to arrive in good time before dusk
