Connected to Poet Yosano Akiko - The Palace of Dreams with a Vermillion Bridge Over an Underground Lake

About this spot

A cave said to take its name from poet Yosano Akiko's verse calling it the "cave full of marvels." The nearly flat 450-meter passage is easy to walk, and the main attraction is the "Palace of Dreams" at its deepest point. A grand chamber with stalactite columns opens onto an underground lake spanned by a vermillion bridge—a sight reminiscent of a dragon palace. Gently lit stalactites reflect on the water's surface, creating a breathtaking, fantastical world. Known as a film location, this cave offers a distinctly different charm from Ikura Cave's adventurous spirit—a painterly, serene beauty to savor slowly.

Tips

The entrance is reached by climbing a slope for several minutes from the parking lot. Though the cave floor is flat and easy to walk, some passages have low ceilings, so watch your head. The constant temperature around 15°C year-round means a light layer remains useful.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The cave is beautifully lit throughout the day and remains fantastical. Perfect as a leisurely conclusion to your afternoon
