This symmetrically designed pseudo-Western architecture features an elegant carriage entrance at the center front and a charming small tower on the roof. Upon entering the building, you'll discover wooden-floored corridors, classrooms lined with wooden desks and chairs, and the building's highlight—the two-story lecture hall on the second floor. The elegant double-coffered ceiling, called a "nijū-oriagé gōten-jō," displays a formality that belies its function as an elementary school. The hall has served as a filming location for numerous movies and dramas, and sitting in the classroom chairs will surely remind anyone of their own school days. A popular experience option allows visitors (by reservation) to savor nostalgic school lunch fare. Arriving first thing in the morning allows you to have the quiet school building virtually to yourself.
