Morning Stroll Through Gentle Streams and Green Tunnels - Work Up an Appetite Before Your Food Adventure

About this spot

A 2.4-kilometer-long urban oasis along the Nishi River water channel that flows north and south through central Okayama. Despite its proximity to Okayama Station, the walking path is bordered by seasonal flowers and lush street trees, and you can enjoy your walk to the gentle sound of flowing water. Sculptures and benches are scattered throughout, and in the morning you'll see people pausing before work or jogging. Stroll leisurely across the waterfront decks and small bridges, and soon you'll be nicely hungry, your anticipation building for the demi-katsu bowl that awaits. A perfect warm-up to your culinary day, this place soothes you with greenery and water in the heart of the city.

Tips

About 10 minutes' walk from the east exit of Okayama Station. Benches are scattered along the greenway, so you can rest by the water if you get tired. In the morning, dew may remain on the ground, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Best time to visit

Takes approximately 1 hour. Mornings have fewer pedestrians, making for a quiet and peaceful walk under dappled sunlight.
