A Complete View of the Town's Tiled Roofs and the Sea From the Stage Modeled After Kiyomizu Temple

A Kannon Hall with stage-style architecture standing within the grounds of Saihoji Temple (西方寺) on a high ground overlooking the Historic Preservation District, which is said to have been modeled after Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. Climbing the stone steps and stepping onto the stage surrounded by vermillion-lacquered railings, you can take in a complete view of Takehara's townscape with its continuous tiled roofs and the Seto Inland Sea beyond. This is the town's premier viewing spot, frequently featured in posters and video productions of Takehara. Looking back at the streets you've walked from above, you can clearly see the expanse of the preservation district and the succession of house roofs, greatly deepening your appreciation of the historical walk.
Tips
The path to the temple grounds features steep stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The stage itself is not large, so when crowded, courteously yield to others while enjoying the view. Admission is free, but as this is a quiet temple, please be mindful of noise level.
