A beloved civic park symbolizing 'Fukuyama, the City of Roses.' Its story began when residents, wishing for recovery from wartime devastation, planted rose saplings. Today, approximately 280 varieties and 5,500 roses fill the grounds. Winding pathways thread between orderly arranged flower beds, allowing you to enjoy the varied colors—red, white, yellow, soft pink—and distinct fragrances of each variety up close. Reading the varietal name plates as you stroll, you'll surely find your favorite bloom. Admission is free, benches are plentiful, and it's perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll to clear your head after museum-hopping. You'll encounter another facet of Fukuyama, the city of history.

Tips

About 15–20 minutes' walk south from Fukuyama Station, or by foot or taxi from the museum. Free admission; the grounds are flat. There is little shade, so a hat or parasol is recommended. Roses peak in spring and autumn; timing your visit with these seasons makes the park even more spectacular.
