An arcade shopping street extending through central Kure, perfect for a late lunch and strolling through town. Kure's soul food is 'Kure hosoi udon'—delicate thin noodles served in a flavorful broth. Legend has it that the thin noodles, which cook quickly, became standard because port workers could eat a full meal during short breaks—a flavor unique to the naval port city. The street is also home to shops serving curry made from Maritime Self-Defense Force recipes, traditional Western restaurants, and beloved local confectioneries, making it enjoyable for food lovers. The arcade allows you to stroll leisurely without worrying about the weather.

Tips

Visiting after the lunch rush makes it easier to enter popular shops—a benefit of this course timing. Many old-fashioned individual shops accept cash only, so prepare coins. The location is within walking distance from Kure Station with excellent access.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Early afternoon is when lines quiet down, allowing easy access to popular thin udon shops.
