Take a leisurely stroll through the flower fields covering the hillside at Shikoku's only national government-operated park
About this spot
A national government-operated park, the only one in Shikoku, situated on the shores of Mannō Pond. Drawing inspiration from the dragon god legend associated with Mannō Pond, the park is designed with dragon motifs throughout. In the flower fields that color the hillside—called "Hanamaki・Karyū-no-Michi" (Flower Roll・Flower Dragon Path)—you can enjoy a panoramic landscape of blooms changing with the seasons. The artificial waterfall Shōryū-no-Taki (Ascending Dragon Waterfall) just inside the main gate is a classic photo spot. The park features a popular large trampoline called the bouncy dome and other large play equipment, as well as spacious lawns where children and adults alike can enjoy both flower walks and outdoor play together. The park's design makes use of natural slopes; from the hilltops, you can see the Sanuki Mountains and Mannō Pond, and the scenery changes beautifully as you walk.
Tips
The parking lot near the main gate is convenient for the flower field area (parking fees apply separately). The park is very spacious, so check the map when entering to see which flower areas are in bloom before you start walking—this makes your visit more efficient. The flower field areas have little shade, so don't forget a hat and drinks. Baby carriage rentals are also available.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. Early morning right after opening is less crowded, and you can stroll through the flower fields bathed in morning light at a leisurely pace.
