A Hillside Flower Field Stretching to the Hii Strait: A Stroll Where Sea and Blossoms Meet
About this spot
A flower field spreading along the coast of Tokuma-cho, Mitoyo City, at the base of the Shonaichi Peninsula. Seasonal flowers blanket gentle slopes, with the blue Hii Strait stretching beyond—a scene so beautiful you'll instinctively reach for your camera. This location preserves the landscape of a region once known for its thriving pyrethrum chrysanthemum cultivation. When white flowers like marguerites bloom in profusion, the hillside becomes a white blanket. Walking leisurely along the paths between flowers swaying in the sea breeze, you'll experience the generous, unhurried time that characterizes the Seto Inland Sea region. Its convenient location along the return route from Shiundezan is an added charm.
Tips
Bloom conditions vary by season and year, so check Mitoyo's tourism information in advance. The flower field has little shade, so bring a hat. The surrounding area has narrow country roads—use parking areas and follow directional signs.
Best time to visit
Plan for about 1 hour. Daytime sunlight makes the flower colors and sea blue most vivid.
