Choose Half-Dried Udon Souvenirs and Take a Break with the Famous Udon Ice Cream

About this spot

A roadside station along National Route 32 in Ayagawa Town, perfectly positioned as a refreshment stop on your udon tour. True to Ayagawa's claim as the birthplace of udon, the shop is stocked with half-dried Sanuki udon, dashi soy sauce, and locally produced seasonings—ideal souvenirs for udon lovers. The star attraction is their 'udon ice cream'—a mysterious delicacy that captures the flavor of noodles and broth in frozen form, the perfect palate cleanser between meals. Fresh local vegetables and regional specialties line the shelves, and you can relax in the laid-back atmosphere of Ayagawa's countryside.

Tips

The parking lot is spacious and easy to access. Half-dried udon keeps well, but car interiors get very hot in summer, so a cooler bag is helpful. A light walk along the Ayagawa River is recommended to settle your stomach for the next bowl.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 40 minutes. The station is relatively quiet before midday; the udon ice cream is a perfect refreshment between meals.
