About this spot
A cape jutting out at the southwestern end of Shikoku, featuring a dramatic landscape of continuous 100-meter-high cliffs—one of the representative scenic views of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. From the observation area, you can see the Bungo Channel and the endless ocean expanse, and on clear days, even the mountain ranges of Kyushu across the sea. The surrounding area retains pristine nature, and in autumn it is known as a viewing spot for migratory birds like the osprey crossing the sea—a majestic sight. Sea-side plants such as Nozigiku (beach chrysanthemum) bloom delicately along the cliffs. The moment when the sun sets over the horizon is truly moving. This is a fitting cape to conclude your journey to the world's end.
Tips
It's just a short walk from the parking lot to the observation area, but the location is exposed and very windy, so bring a light jacket. At locations without railings, be careful not to approach the cliff too closely. The road to the cape is narrow with many curves, so drive carefully and head back before it gets dark.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. In the evening, the sunset over the horizon and the cliffs bathed in rosy light are spectacular.
