Preview Muroto's Earth Formation Through Free Interactive Exhibits

About this spot

The main facility of Muroto UNESCO World Geopark, where you can learn through interactive exhibits using video, projection, and tablets about the dramatic story of how land born in the deep sea rose to form the cape. The quality of the experience belies its free admission—you'll gain a three-dimensional understanding of why subtropical forests and strange rocky coastlines exist here. By visiting at the start of your journey, each rock formation you encounter at Muroto Cape will take on new meaning. The center also features a section introducing highlights throughout the geopark, making it ideal for planning your day. Staff members can point out recommended observation points if you ask.

Tips

Located along National Route 55 with free parking available. Positioned just before the road to the cape's tip, so it's recommended to gain the full picture here before heading to the cape itself. The climate-controlled interior means a light jacket is helpful for comfort.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour. The exhibits are less crowded early in the morning, so you can study thoroughly before your cape walk.
