Historic locomotives and iconic train cars lined up at the red-brick memorial hall
About this spot
Right next to Mojiko Station, this railway museum occupies the restored red-brick building of the former Kyushu Railway Company headquarters from the Meiji era. Inside, period-accurate recreations of passenger cars and precious documents trace Kyushu's railway history. Outdoors, legendary locomotives and express trains that once crossed Kyushu's lands are on display. The operating driving simulator is beloved by both children and adults. There's also a mini-train corner where you can ride and operate a small train. Whether a railway enthusiast or traveling with family, you'll lose track of time in this engaging space.
Tips
Viewing both the main building and outdoor exhibits is substantial—manage your time carefully. The driving simulator and mini train may have additional fees. Check the official website beforehand for any closure dates.
Best time to visit
Takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. Visit right after opening for shorter waits at the driving simulator.
