About this spot

Located on a hilltop on Kabeshima Island, just across Yobuko Bridge, this park is marked by its white windmill. Standing on the green hill, you'll see the full harp-like span of Yobuko Bridge below, the port town of Yobuko beyond it, and the vast expanse of the Genkai Sea filling your view. Watch the fishing boats come and go as you relax in the sea breeze. There's also a rest house in the park, perfect for taking a break while enjoying the scenery. This is the ultimate finale spot, closing out the seafood-filled day that began at the morning market with a sweeping panorama of sea and bridge. At dusk, the Genkai Sea turns a deep amber, revealing a dramatic side quite different from its daytime look.

Tips

There's nothing to block the wind on top of the hill, so keep an eye on your hat in the strong sea breeze. Don't forget sun protection on days with strong sunlight. The rest house's opening hours can change, so if you're counting on it for a break, it's safer to bring your own drinks.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. In the afternoon, with the sun behind you, the bridge and sea shine a vivid blue; at dusk, the amber-tinted Genkai Sea is equally spectacular.
