Exhilarating Drive over the Sea on the White Harp Bridge to Kabe Island
About this spot
A white cable-stayed bridge connecting Yobuko town and Kabe Island, spanning the Genkai-nada Sea with its harp-like silhouette. The cables stretched from the main tower arrange themselves like strings of a harp in an elegant form, symbolizing Yobuko. The sight of the white bridge gleaming against the blue sea and sky is so beautiful you'll want to look back repeatedly. From atop the bridge, you can take in views of Yobuko's harbor and the Genkai-nada Sea, and the exhilaration of driving over the sea is unmatched. The island of Kabe, on the other side, offers pastoral scenery along the shoreline—a serene destination. There's also a parking spot near the bridge entrance where you can stop and take commemorative photos looking up at the white bridge. The drive across takes only minutes, but this sea-spanning road transforms the landscape of your journey in the most beautiful way.
Tips
While the bridge has a pedestrian walkway, for this course it's best to drive across quickly and view the bridge's full panorama from Kabe Island. For photos, the aerial view from Kaze no Mieru Oka Park ahead is the best. Avoid street parking and photograph safely from designated parking areas.
Best time to visit
Plan about 30 minutes. On clear days during daylight hours, the contrast between the white bridge and blue sea is most striking.
